Community Agents Essex - Supporting Independent Living

Community Agents Essex is now part of the Essex Wellbeing Service.
We still provide a free to access service across Essex (excluding Thurrock and Southend) aimed at supporting individuals who are older, have learning disabilities or Autism and their informal carers to maintain or regain their independence. These solutions are often from within their local community.

About Community Agents Essex

Community Agents Essex is now part of the Essex Wellbeing Service, but our inclusion in this service is because of our well-established countywide service supporting people who are older, have learning disabilities or Autism and informal carers. It is still free to access and consists of a network of countywide agents and volunteers, based in local communities who can visit an individual's home to provide support to develop independent living solutions, often from within their local community.

Essex Wellbeing Service is a new partnership, consisting of Provide CIC, Priority Digital Health, RCCE, Age Well East, HCRG and Terrence Higgins Trust. Community Agents service is based on well established principles and continues to:

  • Promote health and independence
  • Reduce social isolation
  • Find practical solutions to daily living
  • Provide confidential trusted Information
  • Inform choice and reduce confusion
  • Increase individual and community resilience

The service is part of the Essex Wellbeing service, but Community Agents are employed by RCCE (Rural Community Council of Essex).

The £500 grant per resident will be a one-off payment to cover the two-week period of self-isolation. Essex residents who test positive for Covid-19 could be entitled to a £500 Test and Trace Support Payment from the Government.
