Community Agents Essex is a countywide network of agents and volunteers who will support adults (mainly older people, people with learning disabilities and autism and their informal carers to find and develop independent living solutions from within their local community.

The service is delivered through a community and voluntary sector partnership, bringing together three well established organisations: Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE); British Red Cross (BRC) and Essex County Neighbourhood Watch. These organisations bring a wide range of experience and expertise, working with vulnerable people across rural and urban areas.

Recruitment of Community Agents

We are seeking to recruit 2 Community Agents to work in the following areas:

  • Chelmsford and Maldon
  • Braintree and Uttlesford

These will be on a fixed term basis (to 31st March 2021) to begin, but term is likely to be extended to 30th September 2021, with a view to a permanent contract.

Community Agents Essex is seeking to recruit agents to work in two areas:

Braintree and Uttlesford

Maldon and Chelmsford.

We are a network of agents supporting adults, especially older people (and people with learning disabilities and autism) to enable them to remain living in their own homes. We’re also here to help Informal carers.

The job involves visiting people in their own homes – on an appointment system – and explaining the help and support that is available to meet their individual needs. It is not a personal caring role.

The job is flexible to fit around personal/family commitments, working between 10 and 20 hours a week (minimum 10).

Starting salary £10.00 per hour plus travelling expenses.  Full training and support will be provided but you must have a good knowledge of the local community and the district. An interest in or experience of Learning disabilities and autism would be beneficial but not essential.

You must be able to demonstrate that you can proactively engage with and support people (especially older people and those with learning disabilities and autism) in the community often on a one-to-one basis. Working as part of a team you must have excellent spoken and written communication skills and possess the ability to solve problems. You must have good IT skills, a full driving licence and use of your own car.

All appointments will be subject to a DBS check.
